Bahrain scraps new entrant plans

The telecom regulator in Bahrain has scrapped plans to hold a LTE auction which could have seen new entrants enter the three-player mobile market. Instead, the regulator opted to award the spectrum directly to the country’s three mobile operators Zain, Viva and Batelco. Viva received six lots of spectrum, Batelco received four and Zain two, Reuters reports.
